Sports watches, by price

Sixty-odd everyday steel watches that fit none of the tool categories: integrated-bracelet designs from $399 to the Aqua Terra, and the 100 m three-handers makers call sport.

Checked 20 September 2026 · list prices on the maker's site that day unless marked street

This is the category the PRX made popular again: a steel case, an integrated or near-integrated bracelet, 100 m, no bezel to turn. At the entry the Citizen Tsuyosa ($495) and the San Martin SN0149 ($399) do it on Japanese automatics; Tissot's PRX Powermatic 80 is the $850 reference; Formex's Essence puts a COSC Sellita in the shape from $1,890. Above that it is Tudor Royal, Aqua Terra and Nomos.

The cheapest analogue Timex in the data, and a 30 m watch, which is the reason it sits this far down. Quartz, 38 mm, mineral crystal, 20 mm lugs, a polished silver-tone brass case at 47.8 g, Indiglo backlight, on a slip-through fabric strap, $77 on timex.com. Timex publishes neither lug-to-lug nor thickness for it, so the table carries two dashes. The Scout at $95 is the alternative for $18 more: 40 mm, 50 m, 11 mm thick, on a strap with spring bars. The Weekender's trade is 20 m of water resistance and two blank columns; what it keeps is the size, 2 mm under the Scout.

The one integrated-bracelet watch under $1,000 in the data, at $399, and the shortest San Martin at 44.5 mm lug-to-lug on a 40 mm case, the same figure as the Islander 38 mm diver. 10.55 mm thick, 100 m, sapphire, Miyota 90S5, on a solid 316L bracelet with a 25.5 mm attachment tapering to 18 mm and a butterfly clasp with hidden push-buttons, BGW9 X1 lume. The Original Design index lists it; its page breadcrumb says Classic/Mechanical. The SN0144 is $29 more on a conventional 20 mm lug with the same movement, so the choice is whether you will ever want to change the strap, which here you cannot.

The thinnest mechanical watch on the page at 10.1 mm, and the sport watch to buy at $428 if the divers above are too much case. Miyota 90S5, 39 mm, 46.5 mm lug-to-lug, 100 m, sapphire with anti-reflective coating, BGW-X1 lume, on a 5-link 316L bracelet tapering from 20 to 16 mm with a fly-adjust clasp. The Jianzhan dial is a ceramic-glaze pattern; the family also has coin-pattern, enamel and mother-of-pearl dials, and a power-reserve version on the Miyota 9132. Against the SN0111-T it gives up 200 m and titanium for 3 mm of thickness and a dress-capable case. The Seiko Cocktail Time at $475 is the dress alternative, 1.7 mm thicker with half the water resistance.

The 40 mm lug-to-lug is the shortest on this site for a case this size; it fits a 6-inch wrist. Casio's GA2100 at $110 is the ana-digi for a quarter of the money with 200 m; RZE's UTD-8000 at $279 is titanium and 200 m. Autodromo's $450 buys the aluminium, the sapphire and the design.

The PRX Powermatic 80 automatic in the same case is $850 on tissotwatches.com, 10.93 mm thick; the $484 one incumbent list carries for it is a 2024 number. Against the Citizen Tsuyosa at $495, both are 40 mm, which is the one dimension both makers publish. The PRX's trade is the battery; what it keeps over the Citizen is Swiss made, a published thickness and $45.

The everyday watch to buy at $700 for the case: a proprietary hardening quoted at about 1,200 HV, without a trade name. 38.5 mm, 46 mm lug-to-lug, 8.75 mm case and 10.5 mm with the box sapphire, Miyota 9039 (no date) or 9015 (date), 100 m, on a bracelet tapering 20 to 16 mm. The Summiteer is the same case with a field dial at $700; the Commuter 36 is $690, the 34 $630. The Lorier Neptune at $699 is the alternative: 200 m and a bezel for a 12-month warranty against three. Not on the brand's site on the check date, and in because the price and the successor are both facts: $775 on the bracelet, from a 2021 owner's review, and a Series II that Halios's upcoming page puts at the very end of 2026. 39 mm, 48 mm lug-to-lug, 12.4 mm thick, Sellita SW200-1 no-date, 200 m, domed sapphire, a bidirectional bezel with a sapphire insert. The lug-to-lug is 1.5 mm longer than the 40 mm Seaforth IV's, and the Seaforth at $765 is the Halios you can join a batch for. The Seaforth is the one without the rotating bezel; the Fairwind is the one you cannot order.

Tissot publishes no lug-to-lug for either size, and the 11 mm attachment means the bracelet is the strap. The Hamilton Khaki Field Auto 38 at $845 is the alternative with a published 47 mm lug-to-lug and a strap that changes. The PRX's trade is its sibling's: the case is the bracelet, and the maker will not say how long it is.

Powermatic 80, an ETA C07-based automatic with an 80-hour reserve and a Nivachron balance spring, 40 mm, 10.93 mm thick, 100 m, sapphire, black dial. The Autodromo proper, numbered 150 per colour: $895, 43 mm, 46 mm lug-to-lug, 11 mm thick, 50 m, sapphire, Miyota 9039 automatic, no date, stainless steel, on handmade Italian leather tapering 20 mm to 16 mm with a polished roller buckle. The 46 mm lug-to-lug on a 43 mm dial is the whole case argument: it is 2 mm shorter than the 39 mm Halios Fairwind at $775 and the same length as the 39 mm Lorier Hyperion. Traska's Commuter 38 at $700 runs the same 9039 in a hardened 38.5 mm case, 46 mm long, for $195 less; Halios's Universa II at $995 gives a Sellita SW300-1. The Monoposto gives the dial and the number.

Biel-assembled and COSC-certified at $1,890, with the brand's Case Suspension System; the certificate sits on a Sellita SW200-2 Power+ rather than a Soprod. 41 mm, 46.5 mm lug-to-lug, 10.6 mm thick, 22 mm lugs, 100 m, sapphire front and back, Super-LumiNova BGW9, steel bracelet with quick release, in the store's dollar pricing (CHF 1,400 to 1,500; $1,690 to $1,890 by strap per the store API). Designed, developed and assembled at the Biel headquarters per the brand. The Essence 39 is $1,850 to $1,980 (45.5 mm lug-to-lug, 10 mm, 65-hour reserve) and was on pre-order; the Essence Leggera 41 in a 40 g carbon composite case is $1,995, mostly out of stock; the Essence 43 has left the catalogue. The Serica 5303 at $1,850 is the certified watch with 300 m; the Formex is the certified watch with the suspension and 100 m.

Other Club Campus 38 dials are priced similarly and were not fetched individually. 100 m at 8.5 mm hand-wound is the number; the Tangente 35 below is 6.2 mm and 50 m. Against the Serica Parade at $1,760 on the under-$2,000 list (35 mm, 8.2 mm, 100 m, COSC), the Club is 3.5 mm larger, 0.3 mm thicker and $310 more. The Grand Seiko SBGX261 quartz at 37 mm is the watch most people weigh it against, and it is $2,700 on the live page, over the line, against $2,300 in Grand Seiko's own November 2024 price list. $2,295 on the titanium bracelet, read from Christopher Ward's listing page in a browser because its product pages could not be read, so the table carries dashes for everything but the 40 mm and the 12-sided, triple-finished bezel. The movement is the Sellita SW200-1 the range uses, not a figure from the page. The steel Twelve 40 at $1,495 on the under-$1,500 list is the same design with a read sheet: 44.5 mm lug-to-lug, 9.95 mm, 100 m, for $800 less. No thickness or between-lugs. It is the smaller Aqua Terra at $900 over the Railmaster 38, and the $900 buys the date and the 8800 in place of the 8806; the sheet shows nothing else between them. The Railmaster is the plainer watch and the one Omega was selling online that day.

Exactly $10,000 on the Zenith US page, counted as in, and the row is medium confidence: the technical-feature counters (diameter, water resistance, power reserve) render as animated zeros in text, so the rating and crystal are dashes. 41 mm, from the page title; El Primero 3620 automatic with a 1/10th-second indicator; steel; fixed octagonal faceted bezel; on the bracelet. The Chronomaster Original 38 is $11,100 on the bracelet and $10,600 on strap, both over; its reverse-panda reference returns a 404 on the US site. Against the Grand Seiko SLGA021 at $9,800: $200 more, and every dimension the Grand Seiko page publishes is one the Zenith page did not deliver.

The Inflection with a solid 18k gold dial, rose or white, hand-finished in tremblage, in an edition of 50 with Massena LAB, HKD 326,300 on Atelier Wen's own feed, where it was listed in stock at check. Massena LAB's page showed it sold out at USD 44,100, and that is the only dollar figure anywhere in the range; it is the retailer's price, not the maker's. The sheet is the Inflection's: 40 mm, 45 mm lug to lug, 10.2 mm thick, 100 m, tantalum bracelet or FKM sailcloth, customised GP03300. Against the standard Inflection the HKD 92,400 is the gold and the tremblage, and the edition size against 100 a year.

A collaboration rather than a Massena LAB own-brand piece: Atelier Wen's Inflection case with a hand-guillochéd rose-gold dial, sold through Massena LAB at $44,100, the only dollar figure anywhere for an Inflection. It is here for completeness and for the number, which is the highest on the site by a wide margin. Atelier Wen's own Inflection allocations are priced in Hong Kong dollars on its site and run on a Girard-Perregaux GP03300; the guide for the brand has the rest. Nothing else in the data competes with it, and it would be dishonest to pretend something does.

The Q Timex 1979 Reissue is on this site because people still search for it, and off every list because Timex no longer sells it: both product URL forms returned 404 on the check date and the reference is absent from the 62-item Q Timex collection. What the data holds is the 38 mm case and the quartz movement; no current price, no lug-to-lug. The Q Timex GMT at $269 is the living relative on the under-$300 list, same case family, with a 24-hour hand. If the 1979 comes back, it will come back at a Timex price, which is the point of it.
