Chronographs, by price

Forty-five chronographs, sorted by price. The $279 Vaer RS1 and the $7,800 Speedmaster do the same job; what changes between them is the movement class, and the page says which each one runs.

Checked 20 September 2026 · list prices on the maker's site that day unless marked street

A chronograph is where movement class costs the most. Meca-quartz (Seiko VK63 and VK64: battery timekeeping, mechanical pushers) starts at $279 with Vaer and runs to Brew at $495. Hand-wound Seagull ST1901 is the entry to mechanical at Studio Underd0g and the old Baltic Bicompax. Sellita's SW510 runs the Baltic Scalegraph, the Massena Racers and the Farer Libre from about $1,585. Above $2,500 it is Valjoux, in-house and the Speedmaster's 3861.

Every chronograph in the data, by price, banded so the movement tiers are visible.

The chronograph to buy under $200, and the one Edifice here that was in stock on casio.com on the check date. Quartz, 43.5 mm across, 48.6 mm lug-to-lug, 11 mm thick, 128 g on the steel bracelet, 100 m, mineral crystal, a 1-second chronograph and a 24-hour subdial, $120. The EFB-108D above is the Edifice with sapphire at $150, 2.3 mm thinner and without the chronograph; the EFR539D below is the larger chronograph at $155. Casio's US Edifice listing had nothing under $100 on the check date. The trade against the EFB-108D is mineral glass and 2.3 mm; what the $30 saved buys is the stopwatch.

The largest watch on the page by 4.1 mm: 49.5 mm across and 54.1 mm lug-to-lug is a great deal of steel for most wrists. Quartz chronograph to 1/10 second, 11.7 mm thick, 185 g on the bracelet, 100 m, mineral crystal, a blue and grey ion-plated bezel, $155 and in stock on casio.com on the check date. The EFV650D at $120 is the alternative in the family: 6 mm narrower, 5.5 mm shorter across the lugs, 57 g lighter and $35 less, with a 1-second chronograph. The trade is the tenth-second stopwatch; the return for the $35 is a watch that fits under a cuff.

The only chronograph Vaer makes, at $279, on the Seiko VK63 meca-quartz: battery timekeeping, a mechanical chronograph module, so the pushers snap back like a mechanical. 40 mm, 11.8 mm thick, 48 mm lug-to-lug, 100 m, and the only current model with a tachymeter. Assembled in Hong Kong. Against the S5 at $189 the $90 buys the chronograph and 2.4 mm of thickness. Unimatic's U3-AEG runs the sibling VK64 at $840, which puts $279 in proportion; the Vaer's case is the plainer one and the money reflects it.

The chronograph to buy under $300 for a small wrist: 45.9 mm lug-to-lug is short for a 39 mm case. Seiko VK63 meca-quartz (quartz timekeeping, mechanical chronograph module with a snap-back reset), 13.5 mm thick, 50 m, double-domed K1 mineral crystal with anti-reflective coating, $290. Dan Henry's chronographs are all VK63 and the 1962 is the 39 mm one; the 1964 Gran Turismo is 38 mm and $310, over the line. The alternative for the money is the Vaer RS1 at $279, the same movement with 100 m and sapphire, noted below. The Dan Henry's trade is mineral glass and 50 m, and its argument is the case.

The smaller chronograph, and the one for a wrist under 6.75 inches: $310, 38 mm, 44.7 mm lug-to-lug, 12.9 mm thick, Seiko VK63, fixed black tachymeter, 50 m, on a 19 mm lug, also sold in 36 mm. The crystal is sapphire-coated mineral rather than the 1962's K1, and the run is 1,964 pieces per colour. Against the 1962 the $20 buys 1.2 mm off the lug-to-lug, 0.6 mm off the thickness and the coating, and costs a millimetre of dial and the panda options. The 19 mm lug is the awkward figure; straps in that width are scarcer than 20 mm. Brew's Retrograph at $375 is the next meca-quartz up, with sapphire.

Espresso and Technicolor dials are the same price; the Cobalt was sold out at check. It is the thinnest Brew by 0.35 mm and the widest, 2 mm over the Metric. Dan Henry's 1962 at $290 is the meca-quartz chronograph for $85 less, on a named Seiko VK63 with a K1 mineral crystal and a published 45.9 mm lug-to-lug; the Brew has the sapphire and the lume, and no lug-to-lug at all.

Bloom, PVD Black, Teal and Yellow, Star, Gold and Black, Retro and Steel are the same $475. The 19.85 mm lug is the figure to note before buying a strap. Against the Retrograph the $100 buys the VK68 by name, 2 mm less width and the bracelet. Against the Vaer RS1 at $279 the Metric is $196 more for a 36 mm case and the espresso-machine design the brand exists for.

The movement type in the table rests on the product being a Brew chronograph, not on the fetched text. A buyer should read it as the Chromatik in another dial, 10.75 mm and 50 m on the VK68, and check the product page before relying on that. The Super Metric at $475 is the same money with every figure stated. Same case, same price, different dial, thinner paper trail.

Thickness, water resistance and crystal are not in the feed text, and the table does not assume they match the steel Metric. The $20 over the Chromatik buys the material and, for now, a wait. The chronograph at $840 (€730), an edition of 250, and the longest Unimatic at 51 mm lug-to-lug by 2 mm, which settles it for most wrists under 7 inches before the movement comes into it. 40 mm, 13.7 mm thick, 300 m, Seiko VK64 meca-quartz (battery timekeeping, mechanical chronograph module), 2.5 mm double-domed sapphire, a unidirectional 120-click bezel with a sandblasted aluminium insert, Super-LumiNova C1, brushed 316 steel, olive drab seatbelt NATO with a spare black NATO. Lug width is not stated on the page. Lorier's Gemini at $499 is a hand-wound mechanical chronograph for $341 less; the Unimatic's $840 is the case, the rating and the number on the caseback.

The only quartz watch in this section, and the $895 is a retailer's figure held as list because bulova.com returned a not-found page for every URL on the check date. 43.5 mm, 20 mm lugs, 50 m, sapphire, a fixed bezel, Bulova's NP20 quartz at 262 kHz, a bracelet and a NATO in the box. Neither lug-to-lug nor thickness appears in the listing, two dashes on a 43.5 mm chronograph, where they matter most. The Studio Underd0g at $800 is the mechanical chronograph for $95 less, 5 mm smaller with every figure published; the Bulova's trade is the blank columns and the size.

The hesalite exception and the one hand-wound Omega here, $7,800 on the US page, and the only chronograph under the line with a stated certificate. 42 mm, 50 m, calibre 3861 manual-winding Co-Axial Master Chronometer (METAS), hesalite crystal, 316L steel, fixed aluminium tachymeter bezel, on the bracelet. The sapphire version of the same watch (310.30.42.50.01.002) is $9,000, and a "NEW" sapphire reference on the same page lists $10,400, over the line. Omega's technical-data tab did not load in text, so thickness and between-lugs are dashes, as for every Omega on the page. The IWC Pilot's Chronograph 41 at $8,800 names no certificate on its page and the Zenith Chronomaster Original is $11,100. Hesalite is the trade; the sapphire version is the same watch for $1,200 more.

$8,800 "VAT excluded" on the IWC US page for the Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 on the bracelet, blue dial, reference IW388102, and the thinnest spec sheet at this price: 41 mm, steel, a fixed bezel, an automatic chronograph from the 69385 family that the fetched text did not name, and no height, water resistance or crystal in the text that loaded. IWC was read through a US reader, as with the Mark XX above. Against the Omega Speedmaster sapphire at $9,000: $200 less, automatic against hand-wound, and Omega the one stating a certificate. Against the hesalite Speedmaster at $7,800: $1,000 more for a page that, as read, states less.

Above the ladder at $10,300 on the strap, the Navitimer is here because the site said nothing would be left off, not because a bracket fits it. A 41 mm manufacture chronograph, 13.6 mm thick, 30 m, COSC, on Breitling's own B01 with about 70 hours of reserve; the maker publishes no lug-to-lug. The Speedmaster at $9,000 on sapphire is the comparison the money invites, hand-wound and 50 m, and the difference is a slide rule and an automatic.

The El Primero in its 38 mm case, $11,100 on the bracelet on the US page, with a $10,600 strap version beside it. The 3600 calibre reads to a tenth of a second and Zenith prints no thickness, lug-to-lug or water resistance for it on the page, which is unusual at this price and is stated here as a fact rather than a complaint. Against the Navitimer it is 3 mm smaller across and $800 more on the bracelet; against the Speedmaster it is the automatic with the higher beat.

The chronograph, 99 pieces with a cream dial, sold out, and the page showed no price on 19 September 2026; no archive price was found either, so the row has no figure. Laventure Calibre I is a Chronode and Dubois Depraz modular automatic chronograph at 4 Hz with 60 hours, in a 40.5 mm steel case, 48.8 mm lug-to-lug, 12 mm thick without the Plexiglas superdome, 200 m, on an integrated steel bracelet with a 17 mm clasp. Against the Sous-Marine II on the same case it is 2.1 mm thicker, which is the module. Sinn's 903 St II is $4,310 on a La Joux-Perret L110 at 41 mm and 14.5 mm, and publishes a price.

The reference point above everything else, and a row whose figure needs a caveat: the Series 2 page shows no price, and the CHF 43,500 in the table is the Series 3 figure from a search result, not fetched from the maker. Agenhor's Agengraphe Cal. 6361.M1, a manual-winding chronograph, in a 34-part grade 5 titanium case, 41.5 mm, 14.2 mm thick, 22 mm lug, 50 m, with HyCeram lume filling the dial. Lug-to-lug is not published; the run is sold out and will not be repeated. Formex's Aria is $7,900 on the FX01 manufacture micro-rotor at 40 mm and 6.9 mm; Breitling's Navitimer B01 is $10,300 at 41 mm. Neither is an Agengraphe, and that is the argument.
