Ikepod is Marc Newson's pebble-case brand, founded with Oliver Ike in 1994, bankrupt in 2006, dormant from 2012 and relaunched in 2018 by Christian-Louis Col on Kickstarter. It sells direct in euros, francs and dollars with duties included, and through stores via a locator; the warranty is 2 years for defects. The brand's own history page discloses the structure of the catalogue, and it is worth stating once: the Horopod, Skypod and Hemipod are titanium, Swiss made, on ETA calibres; the Chronopod, Duopod and Seapod are assembled in Hong Kong with Japanese movements and Taiwanese dials. The table's price column is that sentence in numbers.
The spec sheets settle less than at any other brand on this site. Diameters are 42, 44 and 46 mm and there are no lugs, so the listings give no lug width and, apart from the Horopod's "44 mm lug-to-lug", no lug-to-lug either. Thickness is published on none of the five. Crystal is stated only on the Seapod (sapphire) and water resistance only on the Seapod (200 m). What the listings do say is how the cases wear, "as 41 mm" for the 44 mm pods and "as 39 mm" for the 42 mm Duopod, and those are the brand's claims, recorded as stated.
The movements are the clearer story. A new-old-stock ETA 2824 in the Horopod, an ETA 7750 in the Hemipod day-date, a Miyota 9075 true GMT in the bronze Seapod and a Miyota 9039 in the steel ones, a Seiko VK63 mecaquartz in the Chronopod and plain quartz in the Duopod. Current designs are credited to Adrian Buchmann (Horopod) and Emmanuel Gueit (Chronopod case); Tom Christopher hand-paints the unique editions at €6,350 to €6,650. The cheapest Ikepod at €690 on the maker's site, quartz, in a 42 mm lugless pebble that the listing says appears as 39 mm, with luminous hands and a second-generation case described as thinner without a figure. Case material, crystal and water resistance are not stated. The Tom Christopher edition is €890 in 111 pieces. For a quartz at this money Autodromo's Group C is $450 at 38.5 mm, 40 mm lug-to-lug and 11.4 mm in anodised aluminium with 50 m, and Brew's Metric Lite is $375 on a Miyota 6T27 automatic. The Duopod is €690 for Newson's shape and a battery, with three blanks on the sheet; the shape is the whole purchase.
The mecaquartz chronograph at €790, six dial variants at the same price and marked last items in stock: 44 mm, 316L steel, Seiko VK63 with a day-night indicator, in a pebble case by Emmanuel Gueit. Crystal, thickness and water resistance are not stated. The VK63 is a $279 movement in Vaer's RS1 at 40 mm with 100 m and a $310 one in Dan Henry's 1964 at 38 mm; Furlan Marri's mecaquartz on the sibling VK64 is CHF 585 at 38 mm, 46 mm lug-to-lug and 12 mm with 50 m. €790 is the top of the VK63 market by a distance, and Furlan Marri publishes every figure the Ikepod omits.
