Microbrand dive watches, compared by spec

$275 buys the cheapest diver here and a homage, and the brand says so itself. The reference San Martin buyers search for as SN004 is a 38 mm case after the Seiko 6200 of 1965 (the collection page calls the line homage watches), 46 mm lug-to-lug, 13 mm thick, Seiko NH35, 200 m, sapphire, at the price displayed on the check date. Versions with a PT5000 or SW200 cost more. Two-year warranty per the homepage. The trade at this price is a Chinese-assembled copy of someone else's design rather than an original; for $74 more the Islander is 200 m from a US retailer that also sells the parts. $349 buys the only diver here whose maker also sells the spare parts, and the only one with a day-date. Long Island Watch's house brand builds this 42 mm on the platform of the discontinued Seiko SKX, crown at 3: 47 mm lug-to-lug, 13 mm thick, Seiko NH36, 200 m, double-domed sapphire with an inner anti-reflective coating. The brand does not say where the automatics are assembled and the warranty is one year, both stated plainly in the Islander guide. For $74 less the San Martin is 1 mm shorter and a homage; from €630 the Baltic is the first original design on the list.

From €630, the Aquascaphe MK2 is the diver that made the Besançon brand's name, and the one entry here without a dollar price. 39.5 mm, 47 mm lug-to-lug, 12.9 mm thick, Miyota 9039 (no date) or 9015 (date), 200 m, double-domed sapphire, on the maker's site, which prices in euros only. A 37 mm version at the same price and a titanium 300 m version at €730 share the design. Among the 39 to 40 mm cases it is the shortest lug-to-lug after the Lorier and the Vaer. $650 buys the deepest rating on the list in the smallest case: 500 m in a 38 mm (42 mm across the bezel), 47 mm lug-to-lug, 13.6 mm thick, Seiko NH35, flat sapphire, designed and assembled in Los Angeles per every Nodus product page. The Pioneer version adds an NH34 caller GMT and a compass ring for $675. Several colourways were sold out on the check date; Nodus makes small runs and posts restock sign-ups. $699 buys the thinnest diver on the list by nearly a millimetre, and 12 months of warranty, the shortest here. The Neptune came back in 2026 with sapphire in place of acrylic on both crystal and bezel insert, after the brand changed hands: 39 mm case with a 37 mm bezel, 46 mm lug-to-lug, 10.3 mm case plus a 1.1 mm domed crystal, Miyota 9039, 200 m. On the check date it was on pre-order with September shipping. For $30 more the Vaer D5 is the same length, 1.6 mm thicker, USA-assembled and orderable. $729 buys a stated assembly line and a watch you can order this week. Vaer's D5 is 39 mm, 46 mm lug-to-lug, 11.9 mm thick, Miyota 9015, 200 m, sapphire, USA assembled per the product page. The same case is $429 as the solar D4, which is the model most people mean by "the Vaer diver". Against the Lorier Neptune it is $30 more, 1.6 mm thicker and identical in lug-to-lug; against the Baltic it is 1 mm shorter. $735 buys the longest warranty on the list and the longest published lug-to-lug. The Freediver is in its seventh generation: 40.5 mm, 48 mm lug-to-lug, 10.5 mm with crystal, Miyota 9039 or 9015 with date, 200 m, box sapphire. Traska's stated difference is a proprietary hardening treatment on the steel, quoted at about 1,200 HV, and a three-year transferable warranty; the brand does not state where the watches are assembled. Unimatic's 49 mm is a review measurement, so on published figures this is the long one, and a 6.5 inch wrist should read 48 before 40.5. $760 buys a Milan design on a Seiko NH35 in a numbered yearly batch: 40 mm (41.5 mm across the bezel), 300 m, a 2.5 mm double-domed sapphire, on the maker's US storefront. The brand publishes neither lug-to-lug nor thickness; the 49 mm and 13.6 mm here are Worn & Wound's measurements of the same case, which make it the longest diver on this list. $805 buys the only Swiss-movement titanium diver under $1,000 here, when Halios is taking orders. The Seaforth IV in its rotating-bezel form: 41 mm titanium, 46.5 mm lug-to-lug, 12.4 mm thick, a 120-click bezel with a sapphire insert in an elapsed-time or 12-hour scale, Sellita SW200-2 no-date, 200 m, $805 on rubber or $970 with the titanium bracelet. Halios sells in batches, and on the check date the batch was closed with delivery estimated for late December 2026. $1,850 buys the first certified movement on the list, and the step up from the Halios and Vaer band. Serica's 5303: 39 mm, 46.5 mm lug-to-lug, 12.2 mm thick, Soprod M100 chronometer, 300 m, a 2 mm double-domed sapphire, as the maker's site shows it to US buyers (€1,590 in Europe). The 5330, the same watch with a date, was sold out on the check date. For $235 more the Formex is 1 mm shorter and 1.2 mm thinner with the same certificate; the Serica has the bracelet. $2,085 buys the shortest lug-to-lug on the list at any size and the thinnest 300 m watch here, from the only maker founded last century: Formex, Biel, 1999. The Reef 39.5 is a COSC diver at 45.5 mm lug-to-lug and 11 mm thick on a Sellita SW300-1, sapphire, in the store's own dollar pricing. The 42 mm Reef is the same money and the Reef GMT $2,355. What the top of the list buys over the Serica, for $235, is 1 mm of length and 1.2 mm of thickness; what it gives up is the bracelet.
